What should I do if my MOVA Globe is not rotating?Updated 8 months ago
MOVA Globes use natural elements like light and the Earth’s magnetic field to turn. They are sensitive to environmental changes, so if your globe isn't rotating and shows no physical damage (such as drop marks, air bubbles, or cracks), try the following troubleshooting tips:
Ensure Adequate Lighting
Place your MOVA Globe directly under a bright lamp to ensure it receives sufficient light. The light must penetrate the inner film to reach the solar cells. Alternatively, position the globe near a window during a sunny day for indirect natural light.
Avoid Magnetic Interference
Keep your MOVA Globe at least 1-2 feet away from other MOVA Globes, iron/metal objects, large electronics, and metal surfaces. These items can interfere with the globe's internal magnet, affecting its rotation.
Experiment with Different Locations
Relocate your MOVA Globe to various spots to determine if environmental factors affect the Earth’s magnetic field. This could mean moving the globe from your bedroom to the living room or from your home to your office. If you're in a high-rise building, try taking the globe to the ground floor.
Use a Paperclip Trick
Place a paperclip or a similar item on top of the globe for about an hour. The paperclip will interact with the globe’s internal magnet, potentially giving it a boost if the magnetic field is weak. If the paperclip doesn’t engage with the globe’s magnet and the globe doesn’t start spinning, a replacement may be necessary.
